I was at a fish store a few days ago and one of the owners says he swears by R/O water. Is it worth getting an R/O system for just your basic freshwater fish (ie Danios, Gouramis, tetras, etc.)

I have an RO system. It is collecting dust - tap water is just fine.

Unless there is something specific wrong with your tapwater, there is no reason for RO

My tap water was killing my fish (at least 3 every pwc with none in between) and had high nitrates and very high gh and kh. R/O is nice because you know exactly what is going into your tank. If you aren't mixing it with tap water (I was mixing 50/50 when it was killing my fish) you will need to add Kent RO Right or Seachem Equilibrium and baking soda for kH. What are your 'h's? (pH, GH, KH)
