Planning a 40 gallon planted tank with either australian rainbow or boesemani rainbowfish.
I've read they prefer a slightly harder and higher pH than I have (soft and neutral).

Should I add crushed coral in my filter or I thought of adding some holey rock? How do I know much to use? Or hate to, but should I dose with products?

A media bag with crushed coral in the filter will raise your gh and kh a little. It'll buffer your ph to somewhere around 7.6ish. And lasts 4ever. I think it does better than limestone rock in the tank. Just doesn't have the cool look
