Ram Pair Fighting

My Ram pair seems to be fighting mouth to mouth, and i am confused whats going on. Most of the time they hang together or male chases female away on the surface. But sometimes female gets agressive and confronts male and they kind of Dance and then sometimes they push each other away using their mouths, sometimes mouths locked and also tearing fins.

Is this normal? can anyone tell whats going on?

It's called "lip locking", a very normal activity to establish dominance. If they are really causing damage to the point of injury, you may need to move the "loser".

Thanks for the reply, i thought only 2 males or 2 females fought together...

From what I've been able to observe...they all do it with each other at various times. Sex didn't seem to matter.

They do it to fight. To test strength. They wont mate with a weaker fish.

My Rams mated without initial agressiveness to test if the other is strong enough.
