Hi All
My name is Pete, have just come back into the hobby after a 20 year break,
wow!! things have changed. I kept fish for 30 years prior to my break and
was considered a bit of an expert, Now!! I have to consider myself a beginner, it'll be fun learning over again.

Welcome Pete, this is a great site with lots of experience. You will add to that experience. Welcome again and the first thing I recommend reading up on fishless cycling. I doubt if that was around when you left the hobby. It way faster than the traditional way. Don't take this the wrong way. The name of the thread is "Fishless cycling for dummies". It is s sticky topic in the getting started forum in freshwater. Welcome again.

Hi Wayne, thanks for the welcome, this sounds like my kind of forum, laid
back and friendly. that's right the "fishless cycle" wasn't around when I
left the hobby, but strangely enough I very rarely lost a fish but I did regular
25% water changes, but now I'm reading up on the subject and will not be buying fish until I have a fully cycled tank. looking forward to becoming a
useful part of the forum.
