Im wondering if anyone has these little fellows in there tanks. Ive had 2 unsuccessful attempts at keeping some. They have land to climb out the water on in the form of bog wood. Sand to burrow in. My first 2 crabs died after 3 days in a freshwater tank as I was told they would be ok. Brackish water is best to prolong there life but I thought 3 days was a bit soon...... took a water test and the water ph. Ammonia. Nitrate and nitritas were all fine. So I thought it might be a one off and bought 2 more from a different place.... they lasted 1 day. Now im worried that theres something in my tank causing them issuez..... any ideas

well i have mine in a 20 long with lots of sand on one side than it goes down to a little beach with water at 3/4 of the tank. than i have a couple of rocks on land a coconut and some fake vines. and in the water there is a little filter to clean water. i have 5 in there for almost a year now

Was the take set up with fish before? I have never kept red claw crabs but have kept other invertebrates. If this was set up prior for housing fish and they were medicated maybe some is still lingering. Are you running carbon in your filter? How are you acclimating them?

Right well I did a full watrr change. Re cycled the water. Cut up the bog wood. Added a few more plants. Made the water brackish. Added more sand and made a bit more land and im trying again. All water samples are good so fingers crossed this time its right for them
