Red legged hermit crab breeding???

I have a ten gallon nano reef tank and have three red legged hermit crabs. I have noticed that occasionally a small hermit crab will be in the middle of my tank dead when I wake up in the morning! But none of the three original crabs have died or anything. So what is happening!?!? Thanks

It is their molt. With an exoskeleton they have to periodically shed there outer layer to continue grow.
