it grows on the plastic plants i gots in my tank

i clean it all away but then a couple days later its back

not sure if its bad news

anyone have any idea what it is an how to eliminmate??

i had luck lookin under red slime algea

if i get more crabs or snails will they eat it??

its hard fro me too keep the snails alive cause the puffer i gots loves to eat em

i think i get it from the tap water i use

ro water means reverse osmosis right?

What causes it?
As mentioned previously, it is caused by excess organics in a system. This can be brought on by excess feeding, overstocking, lack of filtration, infrequent water changing or from the excess nutrients from cycling a new system. Also, because it is photosynthetic, long light cycles encourage growth.

must be somethin diff casuse this doesnt desribe my tank at all

Electric Blue Hermit
these are the crabs i have but they dont eat it mAybe its jud too high up for them

i been thinkin bout the turbo snails maybe they will like it.

would they eat the white psiral on the glass to??

yes on the ro part you also need di... so RO/DI water is what you need. RO alone may not get the PO4 out of the water.. And as far as snails and crabs eating cyno IMO its more of a miss then a hit.. I have tried many many many different kinds of crabs and snails and NONE of them ever ate cyno. My friends who had cyno NEVER had any luck with inverts eating cyno. You need to test the water for phosphate to make sure that this is part of the problem then you need to change the water you use. Old bubls and low flow are other factors in cyno growing.
Its a long battle but will be worth all the efforts in the end...

good luck

thank u everyone for the helpful advice

i think im gonna invest in an aquarium bulb an use the fancy water

also stick to a more strict feeding scedule

the water i need can be purcased at my grocery store??
look for reverse osmosis and distilled water??
