Red Tail injury

I'm new to aquariums and the man at the pet store said that the red tail shark would not be very hard to take care of. I think he was wrong. My RTS has what looks like scrapes and sores on his body. Not sure if it is him scraping against things in the tank or if it is something else. I had my water tested today and the water is fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
