Aquarium Advice Newbie
Hello all.
My 150 Fowlr which has been up and running for about 6 months has had an outbreak of reddish / brown algae. The setup is as follows.
in the tank 150 FOWLR, 70 lbs base / live rock, 50 lbs florida crushed coral substrate, 2 Koralia 1400's, 1 Koralia 1050, 1 med yellow tang, 1 med split tail tang, 2 Oscelarris clowns, 1 med coral banded shark ( 5 inches nose to tail )
Under the tank. Wet / Dry with carbon and bio balls, skimmer driven by mag 3 and mag 12 return pump.
The algae is only so so on the glass walls of the tank but has transformed the rock from off white to reddish brown as well as i can see it starting to coat the substrate. it's also growing on the overflow plastic covers on the back.
I feed once a day. Frozen food plus a piece of squid or shrimp for the shark.
I've tried red slime but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
My parms are pH 7.9, Alkalinity is 180, hardness is 700, nitrites are 0 and nitrates are 20.
Before my last dose of red slime I did a 55 gallon water change.
Any ideas or suggestions?
