Reg. Jack or EBJD?

Hey everyone I've gotten mixed answers weather this is a regular jack Dempsey or a electric blue would anyone be able to identify it 100% also male or female

Would you be able to tell if it's male or female I know regular jacks you can tell from the gill plates Idk if the same goes for ebjd

The only sure way to tell gender of an ebjd is by venting. It is most likely a male the mutated jean produces mostly males no idea why.

Definately an EBJD. Looking at the dorsal fin, I would say male photo taken 3/1/14. This is my male (yes, had HITH/HLLE) - the female EBJD (rip) I had didn't have such long fins. How old is he/she?

This is the male (blurry) and the female at after I had them 8-10 months. He was rather beaky then. His coloring might be a tad light recently as he has been ill. On the upswing hopefully.

I had he/she for a year and couple months now he was about 3 inches when I got him and about 7 now

Male then, and a nice one at that:). I was told, and I don't know if there is much truth to it but it was in my case, that ebjd females are really weak. Mine certainly was.

Just keep him in really pristine water and you can eliminate the problems that I have had.

Thank you for your help!!! He's in a 75 gallon with a fluval fx6 and ehiem G90 filtering it also a cherry flowerhorn, green terror and common pleco as tank mates I do a 25% water change twice a week
