Hello all,
I need to seal a leak in my tank, I posted this a few posts previous,,,,,

Anyway, my tank has an internal filterbox siliconed to the sides and bottom. I need to get this out to re-seal the leaky seam. What is the best way to get the silicone to release without breaking the glass?

Thanks in advance

Remove all the visible silicone with a razor blade, to begin. Once the filet is removed, get some monofilament fishing line and work it down the seam to cut the silicone in the joint. Use it like a saw. It's sort of like flossing your teeth. This should seperate the filterbox from the tank.

sounds like a good idea, lucky for me I have plenty of fishing line :) Thanks

Just remember that you have to get the joint 100% free of silicone before you resilicone it. Silicone doesn't stick NEARLY as well to itself as it does to glass. (bad experience siliconing bathtub)
