Hey what kind of salt do you guys use with you freshwater tanks.... Ps I have 2 firemouths cichlids, 3 BP parrots cichlids, and two lemon barbs.....in my 55

No salt here salt helps to add a mucus layer on the fish to protect from parasites but most good dechlorinators do the same job

I have heard a lot of things. I never use it. A Lot of other members don't either. I put as little as possible in my tanks.

Whether it's "good" for the fish largely depends on the type of fish.

Only time I use aqua salt is when a fish is in a QT, or to recharge my nitra-ban/soft water bags, but never in my DT.

Add me to the list... I don't. Did once when treating columnaris in some new stock waaaaaaaay back when... No need for it unless treating a disease IMO
