Salvini?

Hey

I have a salvini (or what my lfs listed as one). It's aggressive to my firemouths which I guess makes sense but is also my most shy cichlid during feeding.

Attached is a picture. Does anyone think this looks normal or is it a hybrid or something else?

I have a salvini and a jack dempsey. Doesn't really look like either, and kinda like both. Maybe it's a hybrid like you said

Could be. I have a salvini that isn't fully colored up, with only the blue showing. But the blue isn't that brilliant and the rest of his body is pitch black

It doesn't have enough horizontal black bar to look salvini, no face and mouth area pearling to be a Dempsey, and doesn't have the gill plate spot like a jewel. Behavior sounds like a salvini or JD, jewel is more of a free swimmer. Sorry I can't be of more help, imo it's a hybrid
