Anyone have one of these?

http://www.seaslugforum.net/factsheet.cfm?base=seahares

LFS has them in stock and I have not been able to find much info on them other than they live about a year and supposedly are voracious eaters of hair algea.

Recently had a large outbreak of hair algea due to poor maintenance (under control now) and am considering this on the LFS recommendation to do a final clean up and keep it under control. Kind of costly IMO at $20, but if reef safe and does what they claim may be worth it.

Anyone know if/how they reproduce if they only live about a year?

TIA,

I wouldn't use them. But then again I really wouldn't put any animal in a tank where its specific purpose it to eat algae. After he eats it all up, you'll have to supplement his diet specifically for him.

Also, Sea Hares get huge! I see them diving all the time. They look as big as my head!

Thanks, sounds like something to avoid.

Any other recomendations for removing the remaining spot of hair algea vs. picking it off the rocks during tank cleanings?
