I have two of these filters Amazon.com: Aqua-tech Power Filter for 5-15 Gallon Aquariums: Pet Supplies One on a 5.5 gallon and one on a 10 gallon. I have always just used the sponge and cartridges you buy for them but recently I have read that a lot of people use Seachem Media and Purigen in your filters instead.
I have never used them. How should I use them? How much would I need for the 5 and 10 gallon tanks. How exactly does it work? What makes it better? Instead of those expensive bags can I just use panty hose? Actually basically I just need Intro to Seachem Media 101. I have never used it at all. Also how would I go about changing to this type of media in an already cycled/established tank?
These would be the two I buy:
Amazon.com: Seachem Purigen 250ml: Pet Supplies
Amazon.com: Seachem Matrix Bio Media 1 Liter: Pet Supplies
Thank you all for any help!
