senegal bichir not growing ...

I have a pair of senegal bichir, and they are not really growing . I had them for over a year and they are still small little things. Also note for a long while I assumed they were Violet Goby(that is what the pet store told me. Can I do anything to spark their growth ?

Hmmmm that's quite odd for Senegals not to grow fast. What size tank are they in? What's their diet?

I feed shrimp, algae disk and normal fish crsip. I put them in for something else and he eat them. And a 45 gal.

Hmmm, I don't see why that diet would cause any growth abnormalities...that tank size is pretty good for a Senegalus however may be a little small for two. But still even then they should be growing SOME.
I know this may sound weird but would you be so kind and post a picture of them?
