setting the soda bottle mantis trap

When attempting to catch a mantis, does the soda bottle type trap lay flat or stand up the tall way?

Also, how likely am I to catch a hermit, snail, cleaner shrimp, and/or royal gramma in the process?

Lean it up against the rock you think he is in, i would set a couple 1 liter traps, my buddy caught his cleaner shrimp and hermits a bunch of times. But eventually he got the dreaded Mantis. Good luck.
