Not no no. My bettas have always been nice to shrimp, except for one... Get some of the really cheap ghost shrimp and see if the betta eats them. There's no bad outcome Betta food or betta companions

Also, I have an 8g as well. I LOVE it. I fnd it the perfect size for a betta and a few companions!!!!

Yay!!!! I love getting bettas, looking around the store until you find the one. I did that a few days ago. Had a nice tank ready to go went through my LFS (PetSmart always has the nicest bettas around here) and found a nice white betta with blue spots all over him with a cute little grey nose. He was fairly cheap as well, $4.99! He's now all happy and named Little Devil, after Duke's Blue Devils. Can't wait to see him
