Setting up a fry tank

I just spent so much $200 at petco.
I bought supplies for the fry tank.
-10 gallon tank
-Aqueon quiet filter 10
-10 pounds of fine sand
-10 pounds of fine sand
-Net breeder
-mesh breeder
-3 way breeder
-3 way breeder
-"breeding grass" for net breeder
-air pump
-airstone
-25 ft airline tubing
-heater
-hood and lights
-sponge (to prevent fry from being sucked into filter)

You may want to return the HOB & intake sponge and get a regular air driven sponge filter. New fish fry can still be sucked into the sponge on a HOB. Using an air driven one eliminates any possibility of that happening. I use nothing but air driven filters in all my fry tanks ( and I have a lot of them. )

It's not for newborns. It's for fry over a week. Is it still bad. Even with really really fine sponge. It's fluvall sponge I cut.

Some would say that "It depends on the type of fry" but in my opinion, a HOB filter does not belong in a fry tank. If you want to chance it, go ahead. If you want to totally eliminate the possibility, use an air driven sponge filter. It's really that simple.
