Originally had my shellies in a 55. Waaaay too much water for a dozen 1" fish. So I just rehomed them into a smaller 30. They're already establishing their new territories. I can't wait until they breed.
Haha, you could have 75 or more in a 55... talk about a wild tank. A 30g is much more appropriate for them... I kept 25 in a 10g (started with 12... they just kept makin more). Generally, if you hav enough, and they get fed well, they'll breed. I had two colonies.. they always had fry swimming around.
I just got rid of a bunch of my shellies because they were breeding, but also losing fry to predation. It may have been tank size, though, IDK. They were in a 15, so I wonder if tank space plays a big factor. Totally agree on the shells, those look great.
