So I've been using T12s for lighting my 55 gallon tank with average growth. I think that I could expect better growth and greener colors with a new LED light. The tank just seems kind of washed out. I do like the light cycle of the 24/7, even though it is kind of a gimmick. But, would the 24/7 be worth it to purchase over the T12s? Thanks.

I mean.... if you have a lighting system that is working for you than why mess with it? I run a few 24/7. I run leds on all my tanks. I may actually be allergic to fluorescent.. is that a thing?? Get the 247 of you want something a little more awesome. It may create some algae issues on your tank, often times lighting upgrades can upset a careful balance that has been created over time. Not a scare tactics just something to be aware of.

Thanks for the reply. I just feel like the LEDs would give more growth and color. Do you think it is the shoplights that may be giving it too much of a washed out feeling? Also, I've been trying to grow rotala but it would only do well towards the top. Have you have good luck with rotala under the planted+?

Absolutely. If you had a t8 rig with specifically designed plant bulbs than I'd say there is hope. Standard t12's?? Your fish will thank you for not being reminded of every pimple they've had since high school;)

When I take a picture of these guys I can kind of see what the camera sees through my screen. If I catch the right angle? Keep in mind this is very subdued lighting in highly tannic water

Is the Planted+ 24/7 probably the best way to go? Unless there's another option that grows considerably better than the 24/7 and is in the same price range, I still want to get the 24/7 because I do like the color feature.

Beamsworks will get the job done
