Hello again,

My question this time is about my UV sterilizer. I bought it to kill the ick cycle that I had at the time (which worked remarkably i might add) and have been running it ever since (4 months ago). Is this ok?? Everything seems fine and the only thing that a local store said on this is that i will have to replace the light when it burns out more often. If this keeps me ick free than I am ok with that.

Thanks for all the advice! This is a great resource to help people like me on the way to becoming seasoned aquarists!!

RR is right UV should be left on 24/7 and run at a slow rate to kill parasites in there infancy state. Besides replacing the bulb every 6 months, you might want to clean the glass tube every couple of months as algae will cover the tube reducing its effectiveness.
