Shrimp Breeding-

That's the reason why I cam using gravel from my 55 in my ghost shrimp tank. I was hoping that there'd be sufficient microorganisms in the gravel to get into the water column. If not, I may have to use green water or something like that. Maybe some pond or lake water would work if the green water doesn't. I'm just going to see what happens without adding anything though.
 
Green water sounds like an interesting idea. I hadn't thought of that (duh!)
 
Yesterday I saw 2 ghost shrimp larvae in the tank. They were floating for the most part with their heads down and then two attached themselves to the back glass of the tank. I began a mixture of dead maple leaves and decaying lettuce in a glass pickle jar and filled it about 2 inches from the top with water. I set this mixture outside in the sunlight. Hopefully I'll have green water in 2-3 more days in case there are any more shrimp larvae soon.
