I have two shrimp in my 51 gallon corner tank as well as 3 tangs and damsels. I also have a purple gregorian coral and everyone is healthy and doing well.

The cleaner shrimp and camel shrimp shed their skin on a regular basis about once every 3 weeks. I have been chasing the skins around every time I see that they have shed.

This may sound like a dumb question, but I was thinking of leaving them in the tank. The tangs seem to enjoy picking at them and I was thinking that as they degrade, they would put back some calcium in the water for the coral.

Good idea, or will they just rot and raise my ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels???

hermit crabs too, they always eat them in my tank. but the shrimp some times need to eat them because they have to get the ca out of them to help harden the new one.
