Sk3lly's Tank Progression

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
That's what I was saying before bud, if you can only run one tank? May as well go big to accommodate your fish interests as well as more floor space for plants!

Possibly also a custom built stand. This might need more thought

Well... we can make the stand as simple or complex as you'd like, a piece of 1" copper with a 90° curve would make for a sleek hanging rail... i suspended a finnex with steel cable and it looks ok, bml sells a steel cable kit too

Yea the hanging rail would be easy. Im pretty good with a bender. Plus polished copper looks nice.

I think though im going to stick with 60P for now though. Thats been budgeted for

Mother versuvius pulled. Too badly affected by bba algae. Has no place in new scape so its been removed. Big plant though

Excess ammania bonsai stems. Aka ammania weed!!

Rotala wallichii trimmed and bucketed. Shame as there was some nice coloured stems there

Finally plants of the moment on aquarium advice. Dwarf hairgrass and star repens

Overall im happy with how ive come back to my tank. Although there has been oversights.

Firstly i hadnt anticipated the sheer amount of shading there was going to be due to overgrown plants.

Secondly leaving my EI dosing on full whack without the weekly 50% changes has introduced a lot of GSA. It went 2 weeks without a water change.

Thirdly i think i should of reduced my lighting level whilst i was away.

Oh well lessons learnt. Now i can go back to fighting algae :) woop woop.

Mum wheres my chemistry set!! I got some testing to do haha

What a visual adventure you have provided. Oh, welcome back! Thou taunt us with that bucket of gold. Especially the pogo and Vesuvius. Please tell us those plants went to go live on a farm somewhere.
The amount of growth in your absence was amazing. Too bad about the algae. Hopefully you will be back on track soon.

Unfortunately all my cuttings go straight into the bin. Ive tried to get rid of them on the classifieds but get no takers so i dont bother now. There was enough trimmings there to do a heavily planted 30g i reckon.

I find fighting algae interesting. I like the challenge. Plus i know ive only got to nurse these plants another month or so and the tips will be cut and planted into the new setup

The lull between algae storms I call it. Enjoy. I don't need any new plants. No room. Now if I can't get the AR mini in shape then there might be an opening up front for something... DHG? Not sure since that will disrupt the green-red-green pattern I've got going.
Sk3lly - I understand about the excess trimmings.

Would be nicer if there wasnt a bucket load of algae all over my star repens grrrrrr!!! Algae issue almost resolved now though. Amazing how algae is kept at bay by lowing light intensity with no other changes
