algae wafers will be fine, but they don't need to be fed too much, since they are scavengers.

Feeding Snails
Hello Feld...
The snails will eat whatever is left over after feeding your fish. I feed a variety of frozen foods. My snails clean up that extra food, plus supplements like decaying plant leaves and the occassional dead fish.
