I'm not sure, but I think snails are eating my java fern. Its been doing great growing very quickly, but I noticed it turning a little black on the tips of some leaves and a few days later big chunks of the leaf missing with black tissue all around. I see snails on the leaves occasionally, but have never had this happen before.
So do you think that snails got java fern fever all the sudden, or maybe I'm lacking on a nutrient somewhere?
I've been having a small uprising of hair algae, not sure if thats related though.

nope, that's definitely a leaf dying. could just be natural, but if the whole plant is doing it, you have nutrient issues.

the black bits on the tip of the leaf may well be algae but since you have chunks missing it could be your snails or it could be other fish
