snowflake eel

I was wondering about a snowflake eel. Like info on feeding what fish they can go with. how hard they are to take care of and stuff like taht. Any input would be great.

It depends on the size of your system, they need a lot of room and produce a lot of waste... They are best fed with meaty seafoods about twice a week (bought from your local grocer). It is a good idea to ensure the moray is eating prior to purcahsing from your LFS (try not to use live feeders!). With most Morays you must make sure the tank has tight fitting lids or a hood as they love to escape and are very good at it. I love snowflakes but be very careful with what you put with them... they can be quite aggressive and any small tank inhabitants will in time become a tasty snack... Good luck. P.S. I am currently cycling a 180gallon FOWLR for a snowflake and a lionfish.... cool

My experience has been somewhat different. I have had 2 snowflakes, still have one that is over 2 feet long. He does not eat, nor has he ever offered to eat, any of the tank inhabitants. I feel that this is because he is well-fed and lazy. They do produce alot of waste matter. As far as size of tanks, many people keep them in 55 gallon tanks with success, mine is in a bigger tank. Also, I have not found them to be very active at all unless they are hungry.

Snowflakes and other moray eels are pretty easy too keep but i heard even if you try to catch them they will boldly swim towards your hand whick can be freaky

You can feed your snowflake eel with a feeding stick, so that u know that he gets food. Sometimes, if u just drop the food into the tank, other fish will eat the food first, because eels have poor eyesight, but a GREAT sense of smell.
