Hey guys, aside from preventing newborn fish and invertebrates from being sucked into the filter, are there any other benefits from adding a sponge on my canister filter intake? Thanks!

2 things...do you breed CPDS? I just got some myself and am looking for a fellow CPD fan.

I actually had a full grown adult CPD sucked up my Aquaclear 30 intake tube. I think he was sleeping by and whoops up he went. Confused the ummm:confused: out of him and myself. It also makes for a nice place for the shrimp to feed on yummies and more places for BB to grow. I considered this when I wrapped my intakes.
