The tank levels that I would put the new Betta in are as follows:

PH 7.2-7.6, closer to 7.6
Ammonia 0.25 (I did a 50% water change for this right after this test, so it's probably closer to 0 now.)
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 5.0 ppm.

How does that sound?

You need 0 ammonia in order to really be cycled. In my opinion, a male betta should be in no smaller than 5 gallons.

The tank I'd be putting him in is a 5 gallon. :) I think the reason it had ammonia in it, was because that was the tank my Betta who died last night was in... :( That tank's been running for a little over a month or two I think... Would it be safe for a new fish to go into?

Tanks usually cycle in about 6 weeks.

When you get 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and <20 nitrates, you're cycled and the tank is safe for a fish.

Okay thanks! :D I fixed up my 5 Gallon for my nursery, because I found 11 little baby fancy guppies today. :) I'll work towards cycling my 2.5 gallon. Thanks. :D
