Nope. Black ghost will get around 1.5-2 feet in length. You should probably begin researching on your own before buying a fish, it'd make it a lot easier on you and your son. The guy at the pet shop is just trying to make a sale.

Doing your own homework at home is always better. Fish store employees, especially chain stores, don't always know what they are talking about. It's best to do your own then consult them to test their knowledge.
