Hi all,

While I patiently (no, really) wait for my tank to cycle, I've been thinking of how to stock it. I've wanted to keep some species I'd never tried before, so I tried AqAdvisor to put together a list of possible inhabitants. How does the following strike you:

Equipments:

Tank (LxDxH): 30 x 12 x 12 inch (18.7gUS) (20-long)
Filters: Aquaclear 50

Selected species: [Edit Species]

8 x Red Phantom Tetra (Hyphessobrycon sweglesi)
7 x Dainty Cory (Corydoras habrosus)
2 x Apistogramma borellii (Apistogramma borellii)
7 x Yellow Shrimp (Neocaridina heterpoda var. yellow)
7 x Amano Shrimp (Cardina multidentata)
5 x Nerite Snail (Nerita sp.)

Recommendations/Warnings/Suggestions/Notes:

Recommended temperature range: 75.2 - 80.6 F. [Display in Celsius]
Recommended pH range: 7 - 7.2.
Recommended hardness range: 10 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 168%.
Recommended water change schedule: 30% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 76%.

This is just one possible list. I'll later post one centered around a school of Asian fish.

Suggestions? Comments? Rotten eggs? :bb:

Another possibility

Still waiting for the tank to cycle (waiting... waiting...), thought I'd try an Asian selection:

Equipments:

Tank (LxDxH): 30 x 12 x 12 inch (18.7gUS)
Filters: Aquaclear 50

Selected species: [Edit Species]

10 x Amano Shrimp (Cardina multidentata)
2 x Dwarf Gourami (Colisa lalia)
10 x Harlequin Rasbora (Trigonostigma heteromorpha)
5 x Dwarf Loach (Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki)

Recommendations/Warnings/Suggestions/Notes:

Recommended temperature range: 24 - 25 C. [Display in Farenheit]
Recommended pH range: 6 - 8.
Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 175%.
Recommended water change schedule: 29% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 73%.

Rather than have a few specimens of a lot of different species, I want to have a decent-sized shoal in the tank.

Does this look like a reasonable list? Any potential problems? Suggestions?

And, as a variation on the above:

Equipments:

Tank (LxDxH): 30 x 12 x 12 inch (18.7gUS)
Filters: Aquaclear 50

Selected species: [Edit Species]

9 x Harlequin Rasbora (Trigonostigma heteromorpha)
8 x Cherry Barb (Puntius titteya)
4 x Zebra Nerite Snail (Neritina natalensis sp. Zebra)
10 x Amano Shrimp (Cardina multidentata)
2 x Honey Gourami (Trichogaster chuna)

Recommendations/Warnings/Suggestions/Notes:

Recommended temperature range: 73.4 - 77 F. [Display in Celsius]
Recommended pH range: 7 - 8.
Recommended hardness range: 10 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 127%.
Recommended water change schedule: 40% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 92%.

I'm attracted to the idea of Cherry Barbs because a) they're pretty, and b) I think their activity might stimulate the schooling instincts of the rasboras.

Once the cycle is finished, of course. :brows:
