I have a 29 gallon tank that I'm wanting to have lots of plants in. I was wondering if peat would be a good idea for the bottem of my substrate and what are some other good ideas on layering substrate
I used boiled peat and some aquatic plant media used for pond planters (forget the name, maybe Shult's) under a layer of fine pea gravel in my first planted tank years ago. It grew tones of plants for a about five years, until I moved. It's old school but it worked great.
