Well, I think I am sold on PFS. My last aquarium was 15-20 years ago, it was a 55g with an UGF that worked fine. I did not tear it down more than once in about five years of continual operation. It started with air stones, but I moved to powerheads with a HOB and Cannister filters. However, based upon comments on this thread and others, it seems like most people are using sand these days.

I wonder, is there a poll concerning UGF vs HOB etc? That might be interesting.

Ugf meaning under gravel filter, if so then those things have a horrible reputation on here
