Hello, I have planted a tiger lotus bulb in my 10 gallon aquarium. They are great looking plants and I was told by the LFS that they are slow growing and trimming them will keep them in check. My fear is that even with trimming these plants may be too big for such an aquarium. Any thoughts on this? I already have a few banana plants that are doing just fine and a sword plant.

They usually get quite large leaves, exspecially for a 10 gallon, but you can hold out and see first, how big the leaves of yours get. I always prune back the leaves that stay folded together and grow really fast toward the top of the water. They will be floating and take light away from your other plants. If you do that often enough, they will produce less of these leaves.

Just keep the plant and see for yourself if you like it or not.

thank you, it's such a great looking plant, I'd love to keep it if I can. so far nothing has sprouted, so I'll have time to evaluate.
