tilapia cichlid in ph.8

Anyone kept these in alkaline water? Suggested ph of 6.5-7 with hard water.. my waters hard but has a ph of 8.

Please no cichlid newbies also suggestions that fish adjust to any ph, i learnt this yeeaaars ago.

I need some serious cichlid keepers in here to offer their personal experiences.
