Hi All. I've aquired a 55 gallon tank and am in the middle of a filtration battle with myself and thought I would seek some advice/opinions It came with an UG Filter and two what appear to be older power heads. Do I....
1. Keep and use only the UG filter?
2. Keep the UG filter and also get a canister? (I have the option to buy used for fairly inexpenive, is it a bad idea to buy used?)
3. Get rid of the UG filter and use just a canister?
4. Any other suggestions you may have?

Thank you all in advance!

If it were me I would not use the UG, and use a cannister filter. Used is fine I have bought filters used.

Thanks, I have the opportunity to buy a fluval 405 for 80 bucks brand new versus a used less expensive smaller model. Is this way over kill or should I jump on it since it's such a good price?

Definitely ditch the UGF, they do more harm then good.

Thanks to you all. I'm going to go with the consenus so far and purchase the canister filter and walk the UGF to the garbage can.
Have a beautiful day!
