trimming plants

ok. my previous post was about trimming specificly telanthera. what do i do about the rest of my plants? they are shooting out roots all over the place. do i trim the roots? if i cut the plants up top what happens to the stub thats still planted?
 
You can pull the roots off if you want, but they'll just go back. The shoots are how the plant propogates. If you want, cut below the roots on the stem and replant, and you'll have more plants.
 
if i cut below the roots what happens to the stub left behind?
 
If we are talking about a stem plant, it will produce more leaves and continue to grow.
