Turflike substrate??

I have a goldfish tank (bow front) and am thinking of instead of gravel, getting a fake turf like substrate that will be tough and the goldfish can look for food through without ingesting any, and then I can just cut holes in to add potted plants, and driftwood with java and Anubias. Any suggestions???? Thanks!!!

I am not sure I understand exactly what you are planning... do you mean like artificial grass? Never seen it done, though I suppose it is possible. Seems like it would probably have problems with catching detritus and growing algae...
