Should I be turning my filter off during water changes? It's an AquaClear 50 and the intake tube goes down close to the bottom of the tank so when the water level gets low, the water still flows. I use a python to fill up the tank, but I dose the tank with Prime either before the water starts to come out or right as it comes out. So am I ok to leave the filter on or should I turn it off?

It's fine to leave on as long as there is enough water to keep the flow going, if not turn it off

Yeah, I turn mine off to avoid harming the motor from it running dry. You just need to prime it with some tank water when restarting it.

I doesn't run dry. The intake tube goes down about 3-4" to the bottom of the tank so water still flows out of it when the water level gets low.
