Turtle ID Plz!!!

I live in GA and this past weekend i found a juvi turtle in a nearby lake. I think that it might be a painted turtle, but I'm absolutely a noob when it comes to ID a turtle. can someone please help me out here

Be careful with wild turtles they VERY often carry diseases

here's more pictures of the turtle. i will release it back to the lake because i do not have the proper means of keeping him. i hate to let something this cute to go but it's for both of our benefits

Yes, you are correct it is a western Painter turtle. They do make great pets though they require more work then a regular fish aquarium as they are very dirty and require more water changes.
