I'm finally getting around to upgrading to a Fluval 205 canister filter from a Fluval 3 plus internal filter on my 29 gallon :) I will be doing it this weekend but am not sure the best way to go about it. Is it better to take out part of the internal filters media and put it in the canister then have them both running for a while. Or will it be ok just to add all the media into the canister and just have that running? Any advice would be great

You could do it a few ways...
1) run both at the same time for about a month
2) take filter media from the internal filter and put it in the canister filter

Cheers for your advice. I'd prefer to move all the media into the canister and just have that running. Just wasn't sure if i would lose much of the beneficial bacteria.
