Thinking about getting one any advice

Not recommended for long time use on reef tanks.

Why are you considering one? I'm not totally against them, but also feel that they are not the miracle cure-all that some people believe they are. They catch what passes through them, if the flow is just right and they are cleaned well and bulbs are replaced on schedule. Helps with algae, not so much with stuff like Ich.

Unless your going to spend $4-$500 for an industrial one, a total waste of money

Ok it was because of an ich problem but I think I will give it a miss now
