Vinegar?

I presume you're referring to an empty tank.

If that's the case, then yes, vinegar works. Then rinse, rinse, and rinse again.

Yes it has livestock but I have a pretty empty 75g with compatible fish. So that won't be a problem.
 
Vinegar is an acid and will lower ph but its a great item for cleaning an empty tank along with some elbow grease. :)
