Walstad Shrimp Bowl

I've been enjoying seeing all the amazing bowls on the planted bowls thread... and I'm curious about starting one. I'm thinking the Walstad method might be the thing to try.
But I'm wondering: What has worked for you? Do you have any tips or tricks? Which plants did you find worked well?
I would want to put some neocaridina shrimp and maybe some ramshorn snails.

I set one up for a friend. Just a mix of soil, and whatever plants I had. I do recommend making sure you have some moss like java moss. They grow in nearly any situation and that helps remove nutrients like nitrates..

Alright! I happen to have some extra java moss lying around, so I'll be sure to toss that in there.
