Hello, just wanted to run this idea by everyone! During my research I have read to top the aquarium off with fresh water once a week to compensate for evaporation, with a PWC of 15 - 20% every month or so. I was wondering if a 5G change every week would be ok and eliminate the need for the 20% change every month. 5G change a week for a total of 20G a month would be about 20% for me. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

That advise doesn't sound good for SW tanks. Maybe from an outdated book?

You should really top off daily, and I wouldn't do water changes any more than 2 weeks apart. Ideally... a 10% weekly water change is a great place to start.

I've been doing 10% Weekly PWC's since my tank has finished it's cycle.
Easy for me though as my Tank is 45gal with a 10gal sump. So I figure 5gals is really close to 10%

My Issue is that I'm still using TAP water :(

I would recommend 10% a week or at the very least 20% every two weeks. And top off as often as possible with RO/DI to keep your salinity stable.

Ok thanks for the advice, I just mixed my salt and am trying to dilute the salinity now.
