Water conditioner usually won't make a difference. If your tank has been cycled, you shouldn't be showing ammonia, unless you've just added new fish or have decomposing matter in your tank. If the latter is the case, I recommend doing a thorough cleaning of your tank. Beyond that, PWCs will do the most good.
 
yeah i would just do a pwc to get rid of ammonia. what are your nitrite and nitrate levels? im guessin ur still cycling if there is ammonia present in testing...
