THis is day 22 in my cycle of a 100 gallon fw tank. I test the water daily using API master water test kit. Today is the first day any nitrite has shown in the water these are the levels this morning.
Ph 7.8
Ammonia 1.5
Nitrite .5
Nitrate 0
I do daily water changes if needed bases off levels of ammonia , I use prime when I do the pwc . Fish show no signs of distress they seem really healthy and happy even though the ammonia gets high prior to the pwc I guess because the prime converts it to non toxic ammonia. Does this sound about right for day 22 is this about the time to have seen the nitrite show up ? Any thing I should be doing or not doing? Any tips greatly appreciated

Ammonia is toxic at .25 level and higher and more toxic as you ph climbs above 7.0

NitrItes are toxic as it approaches the 40 level. During a cycle, be prepared for NitrItes to really spike.

Keep monitoring levels and do water changes when levels approach toxic numbers.
