Doing Fishless cycling on my 20g. Tested the water this morning and had this...

7.8/1.0/>5/5-10

Should I let the nitrites stay high until enough nitrates come to bring them under control or should I do a water change to bring them down?

How long have the nitrites been high? What's the PH? If nitrites have been that high for a week or more you could do a full water change, wait a half hour or so, test again. If nitrites are still high, do another water change. Repeat until nitrites are readable on the chart (<2). Then skip dosing ammonia today and start dosing again tomorrow. The nitrites will likely rise again which is normal.

Sorry you did put PH in your first post. I'd just wait it out since nitrite just started to rise. If it stays >5 for week, or PH drops, or ammonia conversion slows then you can try a water change.
