The water pump servicing the return on my nano cube died. Usually not a big deal, but a freak thing happened. Based on the smell of the tank and the behavior of the corals (the fish are doing fine), I am thinking that oil from the sealed portion of the pump leaked into the tank. I never in a million years thought that this could ever happen. Changed 1/4 of the water last night, and I am monitoring the corals. Hopefully, everything will be okay. Has anybody else ever experienced one of these sealed pumps leaking?

Thanks, Sniperhank!! This is a 24 gallon nano cube. There's still a slight oil smell. Do you think a 5 gallon change a day should do it until I get rid of the smell completely or until the corals respond? As I mentioned before, the fish (two tomato clowns) are doing fine so the tank is not completely nuked.

Hmmmm........good advice. Thank you!!
